This stunning sculpture is one of six majestic luohans crafted between the 11th and 13th centuries during the magnificent Song dynasty. A devoted luohan, or arhat in Sanskrit, dedicates his life to achieving Buddhahood through intense meditation and spiritual devotion. In Chinese temples, these revered monks are typically found in groups of sixteen or eighteen, showcasing their unity and harmony. Each figure within this incomplete group exhibits a unique posture and facial expression, making them remarkable examples of Song dynasty artistry. These sculptures are characterized by simplicity and elegance, lacking any unnecessary embellishments, yet they convey a powerful sense of serenity and wisdom. This object is part of the "Scan The World" initiative, a groundbreaking non-profit project introduced by MyMiniFactory.
