Although this remarkable achievement was overlooked in the west due to politics at the time. These eight-wheeled rovers were roughly the size of a small car and designed as safety vehicles for manned lunar missions. They were meant to serve as emergency escape vehicles. Lunokhod '0' failed when its launch vehicle exploded in 1969, but Lunokhod's 1 and 2 successfully landed on the moon. Unfortunately, Lunokhod 3 never launched and is now on display at the Lavochin Museum. As a child, I was fascinated by the Lunokhod program due to the scarcity of information about these missions. When I got my hands on a 3D printer, I discovered that no one had created a model like this before. Although conventional models exist, I decided to make my own Lunokhod 1.
