There are several treatments for lung cancer, with radiotherapy being an effective and minimally invasive option for patients. However, it has associated challenges due to the moving target tumor. By effectively tracking a tumor and reducing target irradiation margins, the side effects of radiotherapy can be reduced. This paper presents a custom electromechanical system that tracks lung tumor movement. To achieve this, a hysteresis loop of human lung movement during breathing was studied to obtain its characteristic movement equation. The system is controlled by an Arduino, stepper motors, and a customized 3D printed mechanism to follow the characteristic human breathing pattern, resulting in an accurate trajectory. The developed device helps verify individualized radiation treatment plans and improves radiotherapy quality assurance procedures.
