Lunar TuniSampler
grabcad
The "Lunar TuniSampler" is a 494-gram, aluminum and Teflon device that will be attached to a six-bolt setup on the housing part. The automated system operates in sleep mode until the funnel detects material with an occupancy sensor, which then activates a DC motor to rotate a spiral PTFE brush for filtration. Material larger than 3mm is filtered out by a mesh in the first stage, while material larger than 20mm is caught in the second stage. The remaining, finer regolith is deposited into a container through a sampling duct and a Micro Linear actuator. This process repeats until the container is full, as detected by an IR camera. A microcontroller or nano computer is required on the lander/rover to control the Lunar TuniSampler's operations and link with cameras and sensors.
