Lunar Sampling System tool
grabcad
The Lunar Sampling System employs an aluminum tool with linear servos capturing lunar samples. The sampling device's body is connected to the rover's robotic arm. The sample collection process entails: 1) moving to the storage compartment for containers, 2) installing sample content, 3) returning to work position, 4) opening capture (sampling), 5) dipping vertically downhill (sampling), 6) closing capture (sampling), 7) lifting up vertically, 8) a 180-degree turn (loading samples through a filter into a container), 9) moving to storage compartment for sample containers, 10) removing the sample container, 11) returning to work position, and 12) performing a 180-degree turn followed by opening capture (unloading remaining inappropriate-sized samples).
