This system separates size regolith, ranging from 1-2 cm rocks to less than 1 cm materials. It can be incorporated into rovers and landers. Proper functioning requires the assembly to be tilted at a 3-degree angle. The camera fits between space filling holes and containers. Separation occurs through simultaneous rotation of an inner driven component and outer driver, powered by gear drive using NEMA motor (NEMA-17) and a 5W servo motor. The outer driver fills the container while the inner driven separates lunar surface material. Layered fillings enable one rotation of the outer driver to fill regolith, another to fill rocks, and the servo motor rotates for less than 1 cm material filling.
