Using a map-a-planet image I created this incredibly detailed model of the Moon's surface. I used spray paint and fine mortar to add a textured layer, giving it an otherworldly appearance. According to Wikipedia, Mare Moscoviense is a lunar mare that lies in the Moscoviense basin. It's one of the few maria found on the far side of the Moon. This mare seems to be relatively shallow, but it's clearly situated within a massive impact crater. What's more, it's significantly lower than both the outer basin floor and the farside highlands.
