Since this heliostat is meant to supplement the Artemis mission, which will go to the south pole of the moon, where the sun is constantly within 2° above or below horizontal, the sun moves in a circle along the horizon. The top mirror tracks the sun’s path and reflects a circular cross-section of illumination straight down. The bottom mirror tracks the rover, and redirects the circular beam of light to the solar panels on the rover in the crater.
