A dual extruder modification for Lulzbot TAZ is designed with budaschnozzles placed at a 40mm center-to-center distance, allowing nearly full access to the build platform by both extruders after altering the firmware for additional y travel. This design was originally discussed here. An update includes a supported version of the motor moved extruder that requires cutting away support post-printing. The modification uses two motor moved extruder bodies along with parts from Greg Wade's extruder, such as the idler and washer. Gears and other printed parts can be found on Lulzbot's website. Assembling and installing the extruders and budaschnozzles requires cutting excess threads from the hobbed bolt and removing thumb screw caps and springs. The adjustment block, also requiring support material during printing, should be installed on the x carriage by aligning M4 nut sockets. Afterward, replace the 4 screws, add two M4 bolts or set screws to adjust nozzle levels, and wire everything up. Firmware configuration files must also be updated. An additional PTFE or HDPE feed tube is necessary, along with a good dual spool holder. It's recommended to upgrade the 3 linear bearings in the X carriage to ball bearings due to increased wear from the extra extruder weight.
