This versatile spool holder is specifically designed for the TAZ-6 printer but can likely be adapted to suit a range of other machines. I've made the Solidworks source files available for anyone interested in customizing it. To assemble this design, you'll need to create one Spool Holder and one Cap. Then, cut a length of 1/2" PVC pipe (not CPVC), force-fit it into the hole, and attach the cap on the other side. I used a 5-1/2" long piece, but this measurement is not crucial. I believe you'll find this design more user-friendly than others available on Thingiverse that require you to insert a removable axle into the spool and then balance it on two supports. In contrast, this design lets you simply place the spool in position - done! Like other designs, it's mounted above the printer, eliminating the need for feed tubes. Instead, the filament drapes down and is drawn as needed. For mounting, I recommend using T-Nuts with a 3mm thread size; these are relatively easy to find. Initially, I considered utilizing 5mm T-Nuts, but those insertable types don't fit within the extrusion on the Taz-.
