Lulzbot TAZ 5 / 4 Low Friction Spool Holder Mount
thingiverse
I took bits from both objects to create a rock-solid mount for this awesome filament stand. The STLs include the mount, clamps and small spaces that I found necessary at the bolt head and between the spool holder and the mount that I assembled. A 4-inch long 5/16-inch bolt attaches the spool holder to the mount, while four #6, 1-inch long screws clamp everything together with my TAZ 5. The back clamps have been modified with larger holes for accommodating #6 screws. Initially, the low-friction spool holder caused a problem - the filament reel wanted to unspool itself due to tension from being placed on the spool. Adjusting the spacer thickness solved this by allowing it to slightly drag against the frame's side cone, preventing unwinding. Another issue was resolved by placing the spool further out; however, when the feeder tube is full, it pulls off the top row of filament. I've uploaded two different solutions: a longer version and one with a built-in stop for the filament tube holder. I've switched to the stop version myself and have had no complaints since using this setup on my printer for an extended period.
