Lulzbot TAZ 4 Filament Tube Holder
thingiverse
I have uploaded a new STL with significant upgrades over the original design. The revised part boasts a stronger arm and a longer tube grip, eliminating flexing issues that previously led to mine breaking at the base of the arm. The design now also offers slightly greater clearance below the arm to prevent it from rubbing against the large gear. As before, I've updated the onshape.com model for public access. Inspired by a design on thingiverse.com, I've made modifications to accommodate the extruder heads on my TAZ 4, while significantly reducing stress on the filament at its entry point. I used onshape to create this design and have made it publicly available. If you'd prefer an alternative format, feel free to ask – I can provide it in PARASOLID, ACIS, STEP IGES, or SOLIDWORKS formats. So far, with the new STL installed, no broken filaments have occurred, and I'm optimistic this will continue. Instructions for printing: I printed the original on my Lulzbot TAZ 4 using PolyMAX from PolyMakr – a specialty PLA offering exceptional strength and flexibility characteristics. Given the component's small size and anticipated stress levels, I used .1mm layers, 3 shells, and an infill percentage of 35%. Revised version printed in PLA: After revising the design following the original part breaking, I opted for increased infill to 60% in a new PLA print.
