Luke Skywalker Lightsaber: Remix to print in 3 pieces no support for fast churnout
thingiverse
This is a remix of the Luke Skywalker Lightsaber : 8 Component, Super easy to print, Minimal support needed because when I printed that one without modification none of my 8 parts would fit together. The peg and hole sizes didn't match up for assembly. Rather than fix it in the right way, I decided I wanted to print basically that same design in as few pieces as possible so I could churn out a few as fast as possible. So pretty much all I did was add a gradual "ramp up" to each of the areas that had overhang on the larger piece. This meant the buttons on the shaft are modified. The green arrows point to the button changes in one of my images. Also, the complicated upper piece I just split in half and laid flat so it could be printed more easily. This absolutely modifies the aesthetics and probably not for the better, but I'm not going for super realism I'm going for spitting out a few of these things for kids to play with. It will simply be super glued together after printing. EDIT: Had some time to tweak a bit more as the printer was busy. Added a button and hole setup to the 3 bits as they stack vertically. I made sure the holes are larger than the corresponding buttons by a small bit, so glue will still be required to secure but alignment should be easier.
