Cats like lions thrive in social clusters known as prides, comprised mainly of close-knit families. Pristine groups often boast one to three sturdy males, multiple lionesses - up to 12 or more - along with an assortment of juvenile members. A notable trait about lion prides is the interconnectedness of its lionesses; this maternal bond causes most female cubs to stick with their pride until they mature. After a period, rambunctious young males are forced to leave, seeking adventure elsewhere before taking over another family-led pride through calculated strategic maneuvers.
