Luggage Wheel Replacement

Luggage Wheel Replacement

thingiverse

Our suitcase's wheel fell off, but luckily the axle remained intact, so all I needed was a new wheel. To design this, I turned to OnShape.com. This involved creating files for both the rim and tire with precise tolerances of .5mm difference, ensuring they fit perfectly together via press-fit from my printer. However, there's still enough room in between for some glue. The rim was printed using ABS at 2mm resolution and a fill level of 50%. Similarly, the tire was printed with Ninjaflex Semiflex at 2mm resolution and 50% fill as well. To join them together, I used superglue, then attached the wheel assembly to the luggage axle - a plastic bearing that could still spin freely, not directly connected to the metal axle - using epoxy.
