Bachelor Project: Luffing Jib Tower Crane Development The luffing jib tower crane is a commercially available device that showcases exceptional flexibility in movement when lifting loads. This characteristic enables it to rotate with a significantly smaller turning radius compared to other elevation models, such as the crane with a horizontal shaft only. To ensure compliance with the stringent requirements of this crane, I employed F.E.M. 1.001 (Rules for the Design of Hoisting Appliances). This comprehensive guide outlines the structural capabilities of equipment based on tension, elastic limits, connections, fatigue, placement forces, and transmission dynamics as well as aerodynamics (wind). SOLIDWORKS software was leveraged to design the crane in three dimensions and conduct static analysis using beam and truss elements.
