I created a keychain model of the Ludington North Breaker Lighthouse in Michigan through this challenge. To make the model, I took measurements from various online photos, as I've never seen the lighthouse myself since I live in the UK. While searching for keyrings to incorporate into my design, I discovered that affordable LED keychains could be found in China for a very low price (£0.30). You can find hundreds of places selling similar types by simply searching for "LED keychain". I found that printing the tower in grey PLA and then painting it white with black highlights produced the best results. Printing the tower directly in white PLA made it too translucent, causing the whole thing to glow white instead of just the light emanating from the top. A small amount of white paint applied inside the hollow part helps direct the light upwards as well. I painted the inner cone green because that's the color of the actual lighthouse light, which I believe is green. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a bright enough green LED to fit. It took me around seven attempts to get the model right, finding just the right balance between making it grip the keychain and channeling the light properly. Even if you're not interested in this particular lighthouse, my design might give you an idea for using those cheap keychain lights. **Print Settings** * Printer: Flux Delta * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.15mm * Infill: 20%
