Between 1955 and 1965, Paul van Hoeydonck was at the forefront of artistic developments in Brussels, Antwerp, Paris, Venice, Milan, Dusseldorf, and New York. He collaborated with the influential ZERO group, surrounding himself with notable figures such as critic Pierre Restany and artists Piero Manzoni, Pol Bury, Yves Klein, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, and Lucio Fontana. Van Hoeydonck's work was showcased at the avant-garde Parisian Gallery Iris Clert, which sold his pieces to the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His focus on humanity and its interaction with space is a central theme in his art. His sculpture "Fallen Astronaut" remains the only human-made object permanently placed on the moon. This artwork is part of the "Scan The World" initiative, a non-profit project launched by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access. Scan The World is an open-source community effort, where individuals can contribute by emailing stw@myminifactory.com with interesting items they'd like to scan and share. Scanned using photogrammetry software Agisoft PhotoScan.
