LP-E8 cover with charging indicator
thingiverse
This cover/sleeve or whatever you might call it was designed to show the charging state of the battery (Canon LP-E8, for e.g. EOS 600D/650D/700D). A colored marking on the battery is shown in the small window on the side depending on the way the battery is inserted. So it can be indicated if the battery is charged or used/empty. I used the idea from the Canon LP-E6 batteries (for e.g. EOS 90D), that have this kind of indicators by default as the batteries are symmetrical and therefore the standard cover can be used. As color markings you can use any type of color; i used paper marker dots as i was a bit too impatient to wait for a layer of paint to dry. Another advantage: Printing the cover in a fluorescent color makes it easier to spot the batteries lying around, e.g. in a darker bag. I've also added a **V2** file where the positions of the indicator window and the holding "pins" are moved to the opposite side to avoid that the camera's battery holding "finger" scratches off the color. The pictures show the classic V1. Hint: As the download of files at thingiverse still seems to be broken (for over half a year now i think?) simply add "/zip" behind the URL to get the .zip archive with all files. So the URL looks like: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5334966/zip Works for all things here. Don't know, when (or if) the functionality will be fixed here somedays...
