Lowrider Belt Clamp & Tensioner for Square Nuts
thingiverse
I'm trying to create a custom lowrider CNC belt tensioner & clamp using Tailslide's design as a starting point. Unfortunately, inserting an M3 bolt into the plastic housing proved to be a challenge - it kept stripping out the threads. I experimented with heat inserts but encountered the same issue due to the limited space. A square nut solution ultimately worked for me. The modified design still utilizes a ziptie, although there's another remix that addresses this by replacing the ziptie with an M3 bolt for the Z-tube mount. If I were starting over, I'd opt for that version, but since I'm almost finished, this compromise will do. The updated design accommodates both M3 and M4 square nuts and requires a specific bit that's part of the original setup. Update: The initial clamp was too loose, so I've revised the model to include a tighter option, labeled as Mk2. The purple print represents the looser version, while the blue print shows the tighter one. This update is currently only available for the M3 model; if there's interest in adapting it to the M4 model, please let me know and I'll make the necessary adjustments. Keep in mind that optimal performance will depend on your printer calibration and specific belt used.
