Lower Manhattan Cityscape

This is a 3D representation of Lower Manhattan, a prominent area in New York City, USA. Three publicly-accessible and fully-open datasets were downloaded, compiled, and minimally processed to create this model: The NYC Open Data platform provided Building Footprints for New York City. Community Districts data from the same source was also used. A 1-meter Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from NYS Orthos Online completed the dataset. Data was downloaded on October 12, 2016, and it represented the latest available information at that time. QGIS, an open-source geographic information system software platform, was utilized in conjunction with its Qgis2threejs plugin to process, manipulate, and ultimately produce this model. Building footprints were vertically magnified threefold (x 3).
