Lower filament guide
thingiverse
After upgrading my last filament guide, I realized that the filament was still causing issues with the extruder. To address this problem, I decided to give an older filament guide a major overhaul. This new version now ensures that the filament lines up perfectly with the extruder hole, eliminating excessive rubbing and friction that led to a messy powder residue at the location. Unlike its predecessor, this updated part no longer squeaks due to reduced contact between parts. I designed this upgrade to prevent further wear on original plastic components, potentially saving you money on metal upgrade kits in the long run. A matching bolt is also available for printing, but it can be easily replaced with a metal one or by tapping threads into PLA or attaching a nut. Just remember not to overtighten the bolt as the wheel/bearing still requires smooth movement. The only potential point of failure lies with the printed bolt. To minimize this risk, I recommend applying lubricant or grease to the bolt periodically, just like you would for your Z-axis threaded rod. Note that the printed bolt can be inserted directly into the hole without a nut, as it is threaded.
