Low Vision Small Goniometer
thingiverse
The professor of Occupational Therapy requested assistance from a student with low vision, who needed aid in reading the small goniometer. A specially designed Fresnel lens was used to magnify the display, measuring 2 1/4 inches by 1 5/8 inches, roughly the size of a standard credit card. This lens was carefully cut down to fit snugly within the frame of the goniometer, providing optimal viewing for the student with low vision. A friction fit mechanism allowed the lens to be easily slid out of the way when needed or left in place over the dial. Additionally, a small recess on the goniometer held the lens securely in position, requiring occasional cleaning to maintain optimal clarity. The slot that accommodated the gonimeter arm also required periodic cleaning to ensure smooth operation. The 3D printed design was created with a 50% infill ratio for added strength and durability.
