Low Profile Spool Holder
cults3d
Low-profile spool holder designed for 2020 Misumi extrusion, inspired by the compact Filament Spool Holder from Kossel. Elliot's suggestion sparked this version. The spool fits snugly over a small hub, and a hook drops in from above to secure it in place. This hub is petite enough for Taulman's mini spools and short enough to fit within stepped spools from Ultimachine and Atomic Filament. A 10mm OD, 5mm ID, 4mm wide bearing and a 20mm M5 screw are required. Two hooks are included: one features magnetic spring design with 5mm magnets in the insets, ideal for printing with magnetic filament. The regular hook doesn't need magnets; simply press its sides while repositioning. With sufficient resistance, this design prevents spools from unwinding on their own, at least according to my testing with various spool types. No compelling reason exists to use the magnetic version, but I wanted to experiment with magnetic iron filament. Printer requirements can be found on thrinter.com. Recommended filaments include Proto Pasta Stainless Steel PLA and Proto Pasta Magnetic Iron PLA.
