Low Profile Spool Holde
myminifactory
Low profile spool holder designed for 2020 Misumi extrusion, inspired by the Kossel compact Filament Spool Holder's design. Elliot suggested this version, and I'm grateful for that idea. The spool fits snugly over a small hub, with a hook dropping in from above to secure it firmly in place. The hub is compact enough to accommodate Taulman's mini spools and short enough to fit into the stepped spools produced by Ultimachine and Atomic Filament. This design requires a 10mm OD, 5mm ID, 4mm wide bearing and a 20mm M5 screw. There are two hooks available - one is magnetic with 5mm magnets in its insets. This hook is designed to be printed using a magnetic filament. The regular hook doesn't require any magnets and can simply be pressed into place while repositioning it. While the magnetic version does offer an interesting option, I'm not convinced that it's necessary; I just wanted to try out the magnetic iron filament for its own sake. This design offers enough resistance to prevent the spool from unwinding on its own - at least with the spools I've tested so far.
