Low Profile Roller

Low Profile Roller

I installed a vinyl garage floor recently. My tool cabinets sit on casters, but some have tiny casters since they need to stay close to the ground to fit under my workbench. To prevent these small casters from digging into the vinyl floor, I designed low-profile rollers with a large surface area that screw onto the bottom of my cabinets. Each roller stands about 1.5 inches tall. Slide the sprinkler pipe over the inner tube and hardware shown in the picture, then put the assembly into the Roller Bracket as you push the bolt through. A recessed cavity holds the nut in place. There are six holes on the bottom where you can screw these units onto the cabinets with 5/8-inch or longer screws. Parts needed: * Two skateboard bearings * Three-quarter-inch sprinkler pipe (2.5 inches long) * One five-sixteenth-inch bolt that's three and a half inches long * One five-sixteenth-inch nut * Two washers, either five-sixteenths or three-eighths inch thick, with an outside diameter of seven-eighths inch I printed the parts using PETG with 50% infill. You can use higher infill if you're screwing them onto very heavy cabinets. UPDATE: I made the area around the nut head and bolt a bit thicker for extra stability.
