Update 10-8-2018: I added (Wide) files to create holders that can accommodate Prusa Spools up to 95mm wide. The sides are identical to those of the standard size, and I included file names labeled "wide" for the sides as well. I also adjusted the orientation of the items to ensure they print correctly. ==================================================================== This low profile Filament Holder features a design that keeps the spool just 2mm above the surface it rests on. Here's the story: While shopping, I noticed an airtight container that seemed ideal for holding two spools of filament. Next weekend, I returned to the store with two spools and confirmed they fit perfectly. Upon arriving home, I failed to notice a crucial detail about the lid - it sits lower than the top of the box to ensure the handle is flush with the top. After an exhaustive search, I couldn't find a filament holder that would make the spool low enough for the lid to close. To address this issue, I learned Fusion 360 and created this low profile holder. You can also connect multiple holders using the screw/bolt hole located in the center of each side. To assemble this Filament Holder: * Four 608zz ball bearings are required * Ten M2.5 x 20mm screws (14-20mm screws will work as well) * One M2.5 x 6mm screw and a corresponding M2.5 nut for joining two holders together * Four Clear Bumpers measuring 1/2 inch (available at Home Depot under SKU#158724) This Filament Holder is incompatible with Prusa Spools, which are too wide. Testing has been conducted with various spool types: Hatchbox, Paramount 3D, MakerGeeks, AmazonBasic, Fillamentum, eSun, and others that measure no wider than 80mm. Before inquiring about a wider low profile holder, rest assured that I plan to create one specifically designed for Prusa filament.
