Low profile filament guide for IKEA Lack enclosure

This is my filament guide set up that fits in a IKEA Lack enclosure. I used to use a typical “overhead” filament set up but I've been thinking to put everything inside of the printer compartment of the enclosure, to avoid the filament gets dusty.

I have seen many filament guide set ups (including “reverse borden”) from random people but seems those designs requires some more height for the compartment, means some leg extension for the enclosure is necessary. So I ended up to make my own, as I wanted something that fits everything in the compartment without height increase.

Basically, this is just a filament guide using PTFE tube. However, in order to achieve the low profile layout, it uses an idler pulley to support the smooth filament feeding. From my experience, most of time the filament runs on the main idler pulley but in some cases side rollers (2x 688 bearings) will be used.

This setup needs a bit of work for making just a filament guide. so maybe this is not for everybody but if someone finds this interesting, please feel free to try. in that case, you will need

4x 688 bearing

4mm PTFE tube (approx. 360mm length)

2x M4 10-14 hex bolt

4x M3 10-14 hex bolt

2x M4 thread insert (prepared hole diameter 5.6)

2x M3 thread insert (prepared hole diameter 4.0)

Only the idler pulley needs support for printing. others can be printed without.

There’s no screwing point from above. So you can assemble/disassemble it in an enclosure without taking the top part off.
