Low Pressure Steam Turbine Rotor
thingiverse
Continuing my series of steam turbine rotors, I'm excited to share this highly detailed 1:18 scale model of a nuclear low pressure steam turbine rotor. Print each part number as specified on the drawing. The L-0 disks will definitely need additional supports. To assemble the rotor, start by gluing the L-1 and L-2 blades onto their respective hubs, requiring some careful clamping to ensure they stay in place. Once secured, glue all stages together in the exact order shown on the drawing. The L-0 blades are pinned onto the hubs using 1.75 mm filament pieces, which can be made by creating excessively long pins and then trimming them flush with diagonal cutters once installed. Be prepared to drill out all pin holes in both the blades and hub - a #50 drill bit works well for this task. The pins should fit snugly into place to prevent them from falling out.
