Low poly volcano
prusaprinters

I made this Low Poly Volcano for my kid who loves volcanos. It is one of my first designs, made in Fusion 360 and Meshmixer.

Print Settings

no supports

0.3mm layer height

10% infill

How I Designed This

The basic shape was done with 3 circles (bottom, top and bottom of the crater) and connecting them with the loft tool. The peak was placed somewhat out of the center.

After that the number of triangles was reduced using Meshmixer to get the low poly look. I had to make sure to select the right faces before applying the reduce tool or else the global shape would be affected too much. At the top some non-manifold artefacts appeared so I imported the mesh back into Fusion to fix it by chopping of a few millimetres off the top.

After I printed the volcano I decided to add a pool of lava with bubbles.
