Low Poly model of T-34/85 medium tank. This highly detailed 3D model contains exact proportions and realistic textures. The 2048x2048 high-resolution image set includes color maps, PSD files (with AO, decals on separate layers, and specular channels on Alpha), normal maps (2k and 1k), and emission maps for optimal lighting performance. The Soviet State Defense Committee met on August 25, 1943, following the intense Battle of Kursk. With the decision to upgrade the T-34 with a more powerful gun in place, engineers faced significant challenges. They had to design an entirely new turret that could accommodate the long-barreled 52K model 39 anti-aircraft gun, without altering the lower parts of the tank. The State Defense Committee's choice was bold, driven by the harsh lessons from German 88 mm (3.46 in) fire on all fronts since the war began. To meet mobility and firepower requirements, the Soviet military realized no engine could protect tanks adequately from enemy shells while maintaining desired speed. The T-34/76 initially offered a balanced blend of velocity, armor, and armament, but its limited firepower forced upgrades by 1943. Engineers sacrificed protection for improved firepower in the T-34/85 upgrade. Choosing the long-barreled gun also reflected ongoing debates between Soviet engineers and military leaders. This significant change from the previous T-34/76 ensured a quick transition to the upgraded model, while the original design kept numbers of both models in supply for a relatively smooth shift during critical phases of World War II operations.
