The texture is designed to scale well, with high-quality images included. The StuG III Ausf. G (Sd.Kfz. 142/1) was produced from December 1942 to April 1945, with a total of approximately 8,423 units manufactured. This version built on the Panzer III Ausf. M chassis and featured several key upgrades. The upper superstructure of the StuG III Ausf. G was widened, eliminating the need for welded boxes on either side. This change increased its height to 2160 mm. The back wall of the fighting compartment was straightened, and the ventilation fan located at the top of the superstructure was moved to the rear. From March 1943 onward, the driver's periscope was removed. In February 1943, Alkett merged with MIAG to become a second manufacturer. Starting in May 1943, side hull spaced armor plates (Schürzen) were added to G models for protection against Russian anti-tank rifles and hollow-charge ammunition. These side plates were originally intended for all frontline StuGs and tanks by June 1943, but their mountings proved inadequate, leading to many being lost in the field. By March 1944, an improved mounting system was introduced, resulting in more frequent use of side skirts on late-model Ausf Gs. From May 1943, the frontal armor was upgraded to 80 mm thick plates, replacing two thinner plates previously used. However, a backlog of StuGs with completed 50 mm armor still existed, requiring an additional 30 mm plate to be welded or bolted on until October 1943.
