Low Poly Sandals – Ninjaflex (UK size 4)
pinshape
Loosely inspired by the sleek designs of Philippe Starck's Tong footwear, I set out to create a low-poly version of the sandal. Using Ninjaflex as the printing material, I crafted both left and right foot models with ease. Although Ninjaflex can be notoriously tricky to print, my UM 2 machine handled it like a pro after a 15-hour print time per foot. The settings used were 0.2mm layer thickness, 235 degrees Celsius, and a speed of 20 millimeters per second. To achieve the perfect result, I would recommend printing with supports for those tricky overhangs, which can sometimes turn out a bit lumpy without them. If you're able to use supports, it's worth noting that they work wonders! As for infill density, I suggest going for 20% - my version has 30%, and while it looks great, the sandal feels a tad stiff. The included .stl files are tailored to UK size 4 (approximately 230mm in length), but don't worry if you need a different size. Simply head over to Wikipedia's page on shoe sizes for adults, where you'll find all the information you need to scale your print to perfection.
