I'm passionate about creating unique and meaningful art, and I draw inspiration from ancient cultures and woodcarved sculptures with rough edges. That's why I developed the Low Poly Pokémon project - it's all about tapping into childhood memories and emotions. As a kid, I was obsessed with Pokémon, and as I grew older, my perception of videogames changed. It wasn't until college that I studied Art History and Anthropology and realized how external things can become part of ourselves. For many people, video games are an integral part of their identity. The original Pokémon games had simple graphics, which is exactly what I wanted to preserve in the Low Poly project. By converting pixels into simple polygons, I created a distinctive art style that serves as a "second channel" to childhood memories. From the start, I knew the models would be designed for 3D printing, so everyone could participate in the creation process and feel like they're crafting something unique and personal. Not everyone can sculpt, but with a 3D printer, anyone can create their own Pokémon totems. To ensure these models are accessible to everyone, I set two requirements: first, each model must have a small number of polygons, so it's clear and recognizable but not too detailed; second, the design must allow for 3D printing without support materials, which reduces waste and makes the process more sustainable. My goal is to create models that are usable by anyone, regardless of their budget or access to resources. That's why I've optimized the designs to use minimal material - so they can be printed on smaller printers with less material waste. This project won't have a clear end, as I plan to continue creating new Pokémon sculptures in the same style. Some people might not consider this project "art" because it doesn't fit their traditional definition of art, but I believe that simplicity and accessibility are powerful tools for conveying meaning. Each model has been thoroughly tested on different 3D printers to ensure they print perfectly. The models you see here were printed with PLA in a Prusa i3 printer using a cooling fan and slow speed. As the 3D printing industry evolves, I'm committed to staying ahead of the curve and solving any issues that arise - so every model meets my high standards for quality.
