Low Poly PineApple Planter/Jar

This vibrant low-poly pineapple can serve multiple purposes and is a delightful addition to any room's decor. It can be printed as a single solid piece and used as a decorative centerpiece, or the two separate pieces can be printed and used as a container or jar. Furthermore, just the bottom piece can be printed and utilized as a planter. A beautiful leafy green plant can then be placed inside to mimic the pineapple's leaves. This design was inspired by my girlfriend, who asked me to print her a pot for her cactus. Initially, I planned on creating something more conventional, but then I discovered the Low Poly Design Contest and decided that I needed to create something eligible for it. She loves pineapples, and I liked the idea of incorporating the cactus into the design itself. Without the proper plant, the design would merely appear as a simple low-poly planter. Never having attempted a low-poly design before and using the completely wrong software for this type of project (SolidWorks), this endeavor turned out to be extremely challenging to complete. Almost every surface had to be created manually, and without the aid of some moderately complex circular symmetry, this would have been impossible. Once I completed the base, I decided to expand the project to include the top, allowing the base to also function as a jar. The bottom piece should be printed in yellow-orange filament. I will be printing mine with PLA at 0.20mm layer height and 60mm/s. The top piece should be printed in green filament. Finally, the parts can be enhanced using Acrylic Paints to add some texture through dry brushing. Because the tips of the spikes tend to be very narrow, I have also uploaded an EZ-print version where they were cut off once they reached 1mm thickness, making it easier to print. Make sure you have your retraction and ooze well-calibrated before printing this design!
