The FCM F1, a colossal French super-heavy tank from late Interbellum era, was developed by Forges et Chantiers de la Mediterranee. Despite 12 orders in 1940 to replace Char 2C, it couldn't take off due to France's defeat; only a wooden mockup was completed. It was characterized by its length and dual turrets - one at front and another higher at rear for shooting over the first. Intended to be heavily armored, FCM F1, weighing 140 tons, was the heaviest ever ordered for production. Speed would have been low despite two engines. The primary objective of this tank was breaching German fortification lines, not fighting enemy tanks. However, its development process was complex due to multiple overlapping super-heavy tank projects with frequently changing specifications, leading to submission of numerous competing proposals by various companies.
