Low Poly Masquerade "Phantom of the Opera" Mask

Low Poly Masquerade "Phantom of the Opera" Mask

A Remix of Kongorilla's Awesome Low-Poly Mask Takes Shape, courtesy of Gromfrog's 3D Masterpiece, Based on Austin's Expertly Crafted Remix. In this version, I've streamlined the mask to give it a more traditional masquerade cowl shape, complete with a "Phantom of the Opera" vibe achieved by eliminating a portion on the right side. The expanded eye aperture on the left side makes it much easier to see while wearing the mask. It's incredibly comfortable to wear, except for losing some peripheral vision on your left. There are two holes at the back, where you can attach an elastic band to keep the mask securely in place on your head. The STL is already oriented upside down, so be sure to print it with the forehead resting on the print bed. I've included two versions: an "original" that matches Austin's remix and a "widened" version. The "original" was a bit too narrow for me, so I angled the sides of the mask outward in the "widened" version. If you wear an XL hat size or larger, I'd estimate the widened version would be a better fit. I'm thrilled to share it with you! Huge thanks go to kongorilla and Gromfrog for their original masterpieces, and to Austin for his remix expertise. Print Settings: Printer: Flashforge Creator Pro Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Infill: 10% Notes: To print this mask correctly, place it upside down on the print bed with the forehead resting on the surface. I printed mine in white ABS with automatic supports at 45 degrees to carry the inner side of the eyebrow. This should be the only part requiring support material. For my ABS print, I used 10% infill and an extruder temperature of 255 degrees to prevent the part from splitting along layer lines during printing. Bed temp was set to 85 degrees. Design Origins: Kongorilla created the original design for 2D paper printing, while Gromfrog converted it into a 3D-printable object. I simply imported Gromfrog's STL in Solidworks, made some cuts to give it the "Phantom of the Opera" shape, added material at the forehead for stability, and used the "rotate face" feature to create the widened version. Kongorilla and Gromfrog deserve all the credit for this design's success. Thanks again, guys! This remix has earned me a ton of compliments at masquerade parties, including one last night where it really stole the show.
