Low Poly Llama Mask

Low Poly Llama Mask

We're in the midst of developing the game Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse, and we just released its trailer! As part of that, we had to create a full-size llama mask from our in-game model. We used a DIYElectronics Prusa i3 printer for this task. Our print settings were as follows: Rafts - Yes, Supports - Yes, Resolution - 0.3. We made a note that the model is split into two parts, with small tabs on the head model that fit under the muzzle model. To glue it together, we used generic brand 2-part epoxy steel, which held very firmly. The first time we printed this, we did it in ABS and experienced both warping and cracking. Although it didn't affect the overall look, it meant that the parts didn't join together correctly. We recommend printing with PLA or a material that doesn't warp. We used 100% infill initially because of our concerns about cracking, but this resulted in a lot of plastic. In the future, we're sure you can get away with less infill using PLA. To prevent the print from lifting during the long process, be sure to use a raft and plenty of adhesive to keep it stuck to your bed. We've only printed one scaled-down version so far, but the parts still seem to line up properly.
