The presence of hydrothermal vents is common on our planet because it's both geologically active and has an abundance of water on its surface and within its crust. Land-based equivalents include hot springs, fumaroles, and geysers. Hydrothermal vents make excellent atmospheric back-and-foreground models for deep-sea 3D environments.
