<p>Started to explore a roller bearing for integrating into a single-print-in-place fidget spinner<br/>(see <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4876658">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4876658</a>).<br/>After looking at a few 608 bearings from Thingiverse (see below for references) decided to explore my own design with a working cage.</p><p>These are concept explorations for 608 roller bearings with an integrated working cage to keep the rollers spaced and realize a proper rolling function with low friction.<br/>The roller guides provide reasonable lateral stiffness.</p><p>Posted designs:<br/>1) Asymmetric cage with a guide groove in the rollers (print with cage down).<br/>2) Asymmetric cage with guides on the outside of the rollers (print with cage down).<br/>3) Center cage with rollers (print with cage supports down)<br/>4) Symmetric design with diabolo shaped rollers and a central cage</p><p>Some geometry detail:<br/>Minimal clearance on the rollers is 0.20 mm, which easily released with a light push.<br/>Slope of overhangs is 55 or 60 degrees.</p><p>Reference to other 608 designs (Remix search is not working for me):<br/><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2746804">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2746804</a><br/><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3002837">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3002837</a><br/><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2543414">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2543414</a><br/><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4821342">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4821342</a></p><h3>Print Settings</h3><p><strong>Printer Brand:</strong></p><p>Prusa</p><p> </p><p><strong>Printer: </strong></p><p>Prusa Mini</p><p><strong>Rafts:</strong></p><p> </p><p>No</p><p> </p><p><strong>Supports: </strong></p><p>No</p><p><strong>Resolution:</strong></p><p> </p><p>200</p><p> </p><p><strong>Infill: </strong></p><p>15</p><p><br/><strong>Filament:</strong><br/>Prusa PLA <br/> </p><p><strong>Notes: </strong></p><p>Meant to be printed at 0.15 mm layer thickness</p><p>Be careful to avoid elephant's foot, it can cause gaps to close in the first layers.<br/>Printing with high infill caused drift in the cage first layers.</p><p> </p><p>Note: printed on Prusa Mini+ with regular 0.15 Quality setting</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Category: DIY</p>
