Low Fi High Tech Headphones
thingiverse
Create a fully functional pair of headphones without any manufactured part by using raw materials such as wire, tape, solder, magnets and 3D printed elements like speaker pieces and ear parts. The challenge was to combine these parts effectively while ensuring good acoustics. The speaker is a thin 3D printed part with a rail for inserting copper wire. The plug was designed to fit standard Jack connectors, which proved tricky due to its thin design. Despite the unconventional appearance, it works without risk of jamming. Sound quality exceeds expectations but may require a power amplifier for louder volume from portable sources. Open-source files allow anyone to attempt making their own pair, with thanks to Martin De Bie, Hannah Perner Wilson, and Jean Baptiste Labrune for inspiration.
