Low cost 35mm negative digitalizer

thingiverse

Hi everyone! I'm thrilled to share my first project on thingiverse with all of you who are passionate about analog film photography or just happen to have some old film at home, eager to uncover the hidden treasures within. Scanning a 35mm film in a photography shop or lab can be an expensive proposition, so I set out to create a DIY setup that would allow me to scan photographs on my own using just a digital camera. You can find plenty of tutorials online about scanning negatives with DSLR cameras or digital cameras, but the basic principle remains the same: capture a high-quality photo of the negative and then reverse the colors in Lightroom or Photoshop. For example, you can check out these tutorials for inspiration: https://www.diyphotography.net/scanning-film-negatives-with-a-dslr/ https://petapixel.com/2012/12/24/how-to-scan-your-film-using-a-digital-camera-and-macro-lens/ I wanted to create a setup that was affordable, simple, and practical, without relying on expensive negative lightboxes. Below, you'll find the printing settings, bill of materials, tips, and tricks I've learned along the way. One thing I'd like to mention is that this project was developed quickly with my own needs in mind, so it may not be the most versatile setup. That's why I'm inviting you to reach out and ask for the original files (.ipt or other formats) so you can modify them to suit your specific requirements.
