I wrote this code a while back but never had the chance to upload it until now. Recently I discovered the Burr Tool software package which shows solutions along with its own functionality! As suggested by its name, Love's Dozen is categorized under difficulty level 12.3 however there are multiple ways of assembling it which have various difficulties, including several with only a 1.0 difficulty level and four others with a 4.4 difficulty level with numerous others falling in between. One notable challenge associated with this puzzle piece is disassembling it. Disassembly becomes complicated as it contains more than one degree of freedom and looks very similar to navigating a 3D maze filled with dead ends. The Love's Dozen was first introduced by IBM Research but since the website is no longer available, the pieces can be found online at Wikipedia along with its Burr Puzzle related pages in internet archives. A puzzle file for Burr Tools has also been added for you to explore and experiment with different solutions. In this note it is mentioned that all assembled burrs appear very similar, however, here's one piece of a burr disassembled slightly which you see below. Instructions You can either print out the entire set of burr pieces on the platform known as burr12.stl or just the parts individually. Alternatively, make use of the OpenSCAD file by adjusting size to obtain bigger or smaller pieces if needed and tweak distances between pieces.
