The marble statue was inspired by a model displayed at the annual exhibition of Florence's prestigious Academy of Fine Arts back in 1833. Louis Cambray-Digny donated a replica of "Love Lying in Ambush" to art critic and collector Melchior Missirini, who paired it with "Chloe," a plaster sculpture on display right here in this room.
