Lova Lamp
thingiverse
The Lova Lamp. Just in time for Valentine's Day. Runs on WLED. I printed this in marble PLA for the lamp base and body and white PETG for the diffuser. The LED rings stand off the bottom of the lamp base, with room for the wiring and electronics underneath. The electronics are very simple, just follow the directions on the WLED web site. Use the reversed diffuser printed with the flat side against the build plate so you have a nice smooth outer surface. You do not need both diffusers, just one or the other. I recommend painting the interior of the body flat black so the light doesn't shine through the body. I powered my LEDs starting with the inner ring and going out, but you can set them up however you like. WLED Project Website https://kno.wled.ge/ When you set up WLED create 3 segments, one from 0 to 8, the next from 8 to 24 and the last from 24 to 60. I grouped the first two segments together and set them to the random colors effect. They light the heart. The outer segment is in its own group and also set to random colors but looks cool with other effects. When you find something you like make sure you create a preset for it and set it to the default so it starts up that way if the power is cycled. RGB LED Ring https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GPWVD57 This project uses rings 1,2, and 4 starting from the center, leaving 3 and 5 for a future project. Wemos D1 Mini https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08H1YRN4M This is what I used but you can use almost any ESP8266 or ESP32 board. Logic Level Shifter https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F7W91LC This is needed to shift the 3.3V output of the ESP8266 board up to 5V for the LEDs. You will also need a 5V/3A (or better) power supply and an appropriate jack to match. As the WLED site notes, a 62 ohm resistor is optional when using the level shifter. The 1000ufF capacitor is recommended though as it can help prevent flickering of the LEDs. I did not use one in this project however and did not notice any problems. Your mileage may vary so test yours thoroughly before doing final assembly and gluing things down.
