Louvre Light

I'm in the process of bringing Paris to life on my daughter's ceiling, with prominent landmarks printed in white standing out against a detailed street map. A realistic lighting system is essential, so I've created one that closely replicates the real thing. This project demands numerous printed pieces and some careful cleanup using a hobby knife. You'll also need to cut plexiglass sheets to serve as a base for gluing the pieces onto. Once you have all the components smoothed out for a flawless geometric fit, carefully glue them onto the plexiglass. I found that applying a few dots of Elmer's Glue to lock them in place on cardboard made mounting the plexiglass much easier. After crafting four perfect triangles, it's time to assemble them into a pyramid shape. Achieving a precise square requires creating a cardboard template to hold everything together while aligning all edges. I found that using a generous amount of tape helped pull things into place. With your pyramid complete, glue 8mm X 3mm neodymium magnets onto the mounting brackets, then attach the brackets to the pyramid's corners. For the light itself, simply acquire a 12" X 12" sheet metal square from Home Depot. Mount a small, simple light source onto this square and attach it securely to the ceiling.
