Proper airflow over high-c LiPo batteries used to power an RC plane is necessary to promote their longevity. A pair of these louvered air intakes were tested on a Tower ARF Kaos that uses 6s/4500mAh lipos and was found to be effective mounted to the fuselage sides just in front of the battery. Rectangular slots 50x15mm are required. Be sure to cut an air exit at least twice the total air inlet area. You should be able to see into the fuselage through the louvers when viewed from the front of the plane. The louvers can be used as air exits, also. Just reverse their direction.
