Louis XV Meissen Bouquetiere Figure
myminifactory
This is one of two exquisite Ormolu-mounted Meissen bouquetiere figures crafted during the reign of Louis XV. The delicate porcelain originated from around 1740-44 and was elegantly paired with mounts created circa 1745-49. Each masterful work was carefully modelled by the skilled artist J.J.Kandler, and the striking mounts bear the distinctive 'c couronné poincon' mark. Sold at a prestigious auction held by Christies in London on July 4th, 2017, this rare piece realised an impressive price of GBP 16,250. It was estimated to fetch between GBP 15,000 - 25,000. A detailed description of the figure is noted in Kandler's Taxa of 1740-44: "1. A gardener figure standing on a pedestal, holding a basket with both hands and surrounded by flowers." Another pair of these figures was sold at auction on November 30th, 1970, as part of the A.C.J. Wall Collection, while a further pair are showcased in Abraham L. den Blaauwen's book Meissen Porcelain in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, published in 2000, pp. 438-439, nos. 320-321.
