This stunning marble sculpture, authenticated with a signature and date in 1834, was crafted by Jean-Jacques (James) Pradier, a master artist born in Geneva in 1790 and later residing in Paris until his death in 1852. The intricately carved piece features Louis-Philippe, the King of France who ruled from 1830 to 1848. Living in the opulent Palace of Tuileries just a stone's throw away from the renowned Louvre Museum, the King developed an extraordinary passion for the museum and its vast collection of Spanish antiquities.
