"Lotus Root" Spool

This is a CNC'd filament spool designed for optimal material use and cutting speed by strategically removing washers and rollers from the spool sides. Engineered to be cut from 7mm-9mm material, it utilizes M8 or 5/16" fasteners to secure the components together. By adjusting the number of wooden washers added or removed, users can accommodate either Diamond Age Solutions Ltd. or http://diamondage.co.nz rolls measuring 100m x 3mm or 1.75mm PLA. Instructions Cut from 6mm-10mm sheet using a 4mm - 6mm router bit (1/4" works fine). In each slot on the wheel arms, insert two small wooden washers and secure them with 8mm (or 5/16") bolts or threaded rod, nuts, and washers. Place one large washer on each side of the spool when it's attached to the axle to prevent bolts from snagging inside your 3D printer. To load filament, loosen the nuts on one side, remove that side, place the roll inside, then replace the side, do up the nuts, slide the fastenings so wooden washers center the roll. Tighten nuts and attach a spool holder with large wooden washers on each side of your 3D printer's spool holder.
